The Office of Academic Affairs
What is Academic Affairs?
Academic Affairs is responsible for the establishment and monitoring of policies that affect academic programs and academic initiatives including assisting the colleges with development of new programs to ensure they meet accreditation and state standards. The office manages required and requested reporting to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC), and the University of Tennessee System offices. Additionally, Academic Affairs oversees the Office of Institutional Research and the Office of Institutional Effectiveness.
Mission
The mission of the Office of Academic Affairs is to support the University of Tennessee Health Science Center by assuring academic compliance and facilitating new program development.

The Office of Academic Affairs seeks to foster the development and advancement of academia within the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

Dr. Valarie Fleming serves as the Senior Associate Vice Chancellor of Academic and Faculty Affairs in the Office of Academic, Faculty, and Student Affairs.
