Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Carrie Harvey is an Associate Professor at the University of Tennessee (UT) Health Science Center College of Nursing. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in 1992 from Belmont University, her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in Acute Care from Vanderbilt University, and PhD in Nursing from UT Health Science Center in 2003. She has a faculty practice as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner working with cardiac electrophysiology patients for the past 20 years with Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare. Her PhD dissertation topic focused on noninvasive electrocardiographic markers for sudden cardiac death such as Microvolt T Wave Alternans.

She has published and presented multiple topics on cardiac electrophysiology and is a member of the Heart Rhythm Society (HRS) Allied Health Professional Council, HRS Governance Committee, Co-task force lead for the Research 101 series, and a section editor for the HRSO2 Journal. She established the HRS AHP Publication Fund and is the current Co-Chair for the Heart Rhythm Society 2024-2025 LEAP Cohort.

Dr. Harvey is also active with the American Heart Association as a member of the Council on Cardiovascular Nursing and the Council on Lifestyle and Cardiometabolic Health. She is a member of the Volunteer Science Panel: American Heart Association COVID-19 Outpatient Treatment Video Podcast Series where she authored and presented the COVID-19 and Cardiac Wellness Podcast on HeartBEATS from Lifelong LearningTM sponsored by a grant from Pfizer. She is also a member of the American Association of Heart Failure Nurses, is a Certified Heart Failure Nurse, and Chair of the Editorial Committee.

Dr. Harvey is the immediate past Chair of the UT Health Science Center College of Nursing Faculty Organization and course leader for the graduate courses: Epidemiology for Clinical Practice, DNP Project Implementation and Evaluations, DNP Project Seminar II and the DNP Adult Gerontology Acute Care Advanced Clinical Management. She also advises students and performs clinical site visits for DNP students in the AG-ACNP concentration. She serves as a member on PhD student dissertation committees and has a passion for mentoring and sponsoring students and practicing nurses who wish to advance their career.
