Patricia Jones-Purdy, a native of Memphis, joined the faculty of the University of Tennessee (UT) Health Science Center in October 2017. She holds a Diploma of Nursing from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Union University, and a Master of Science (MSN) in Nursing from Walden University. In May 2023, she received her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in Psychiatric Mental Health from the UT Health Center College of Nursing.
Dr. Jones-Purdy has held various roles at Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare, including nurse on the Medical-Surgical and Neurology floors, Patient Care Coordinator, and Clinical Director. She has also served as Adjunct Faculty at Union University and UT Health Science Center. Additionally, she practices at Insight Behavioral Health. Dr. Jones-Purdy is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society, is certified in Neuroscience Nursing, and is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Practitioner.
As a BSN instructor, Dr. Jones-Purdy taught Introduction to Professional Practice, Adult Health, and Leadership. She also served as an instructor in clinical courses in Mental Health and Population Health. Dr. Jones-Purdy transitioned to the DNP program faculty effective August 1, 2024.
She is a member of the American Association of Neuroscience Nurses, the American Nurses Association, the Tennessee Nurses Association, and the American Psychiatric Nurses Association.
